Building Strong Teachers and Leaders through PREP

The Preparing and Retaining Educators through Partnership (PREP) Program Allotment aims to strengthen the quality of teacher recruitment, preparation, and mentorship, leading to increased educator effectiveness and retention.

The PREP Allotment provides funding for districts to engage in the Texas Mentorship Training through participation in two different PREP Programs:

  • PREP Mentorship Program provides high-quality training to mentor teachers and district & campus staff who support or supervise teachers who are new to the classroom
  • PREP Residency Program provides high-quality training to cooperating (host) teachers of teacher residents

The Texas Mentorship Training is designed to meet the requirements of PREP policy.

The Texas Mentorship Training tackles critical issues in Texas education while delivering substantial benefits:

  • Addressing Teacher Retention Challenges Reduces teacher turnover by providing the support teacher candidates and early-career teachers need to succeed.
  • Building Leadership Capacity Empowers mentoring educators and campus & district-level leaders with the skills to develop and sustain high-quality support systems.
